How to Change Your Apple Password

Follow these steps to securely update your Apple ID password and protect your account:

  • Sign in with your current Apple ID and password
  • Create a new strong password that you haven't used before
  • Make sure your new password is at least 8 characters long
  • Include uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters
  • Don't use easily guessable information like birthdays or names

Apple Password Change Options

On iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Go to Settings > [your name] > Password & Security > Change Password. Enter your current password, then enter your new password and confirm it.

Choose Apple menu > System Settings, click [your name], then click Password & Security. Click Change Password and follow the onscreen instructions.

Visit appleid.apple.com and sign in. Go to the Security section and select Change Password. Enter your current password, then enter your new password and confirm it.

  • Forgot Current Password: Use account recovery at iforgot.apple.com

  • Two-Factor Authentication Issues: Make sure you have access to a trusted device or phone number
Remember: After changing your password, you'll need to sign in again on all your devices with the new password. Apple will never ask for your password via email or phone call.
